When you visit Sioux Falls, you’ll find so many local flavors that you’ll have to set your itinerary for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert to even try a few. The establishments below are just a small sampling of some of our favorite foodie spots. These new and classic spots will keep you coming back for more.
The All Day Cafe
The menu here contains the perfect combination of breakfast and lunch selections. In fact, brunch is their claim to fame. Try the pancakes, which are delightfully fluffy and come with traditional or fruity pairings, or feast on the Chili Verde Huevos Rancheros to give your tongue a spicy kick start to its day.
If you have an adventurous palette, we dare you to give Kaladi’s a try. No matter your appetite, save room for a caramel nut roll and one of the best cups of joe in town. You’ll also find fresh omelets and home-style breakfast classics, like chicken-fried steak. Take a few hours to digest all the breakfast goodness and then come back for lunch or dinner, too.
Sunday is the only day this downtown hotspot serves breakfast, and you don’t want to miss it. Before you even choose your meal, order their Bromosas (a.k.a. mimosas)—either bottomless or by the glass. Then decide if it will be one of their infamous eggs bennedicts, frittatas, or something on the sweeter side, like pumpkin pancakes. Their menu changes with the seasons, so come with an open mind and empty stomach.
W. 12th Pourhouse & Kitchen
Catch a game and score some awesome bar fare at this west side staple for lunch or dinner. Their staff favorites are some of ours too, like the Hot Popeye Chicken, One “Gouda” Bacon Cheeseburger, Pork Carnitas Flatbread, and Wisconsin Cheddar Cheese Curds. Come thirsty as they have some great brews on tap, too.
MacKenzie River Pizza, Grill & Pub
This eclectic restaurant serves up an array of tasty platters, from Goat Cheese Queso to juicy, fresh-off-the-grill burgers. For those with vegetarian or gluten-free diets, MacKenzie River can accommodate both. Its outdoorsy atmosphere and selection of regional brews make it a fun place to gather for lunch and dinner. Oh, and did we mention the Caribbean Chicken pizza is our personal favorite?
A great spot for contemporary American cuisine, every flavor-filled soup, salad, sandwich, and entree at this lunchtime favorite is sure to satisfy. For a healthier dish, we recommend the roasted apple spinach salad, which comes with a sizable portion of grilled chicken. Or to satisfy a craving for rich, wintery food, order the triple mac & cheese that’s even got crisp prosciutto in it.
McNally's Irish Pub
This traditional Irish pub serves all the drinks and fare you’d expect, such as Guinness and a delicious classic reuben, plus signature dishes that summon foodies far and wide. If you stop by, be sure to order the Drunken Mussels cooked in Guinness Stout and a Jameson Jewel—a whiskey cocktail bursting with fruit flavors.
Treat yourself to a 5-star meal at Morrie's! Enjoy one a cut of steak such as their 32-ounce bone-in Wagyu ribeye, or try the pan seared sea bass if you're more of a seafood fan. Don't forget to order one of their fantastic sides such as their lobster mac or bacon bleu hashbrowns.
If you find yourself craving the flavor combinations of cream, cocoa, and espresso, then you need to head straight to Spezia for their melt-in-your-mouth tiramisu. It’s made in house by chefs who know their Italian desserts.
Queen City Bakery
You already know that you’ll want a sweet treat sometime during your day, so head to Queen City Bakery early to pick up a made-from-scratch cookie or pastry. Chef Kristine and her team are baking masters, and take pride in creating their goods from the best local ingredients available.
Staying in a place with a kitchen? Prepare a gourmet meal for yourself or the whole group. Pick up meats, cheeses, and other delicatessen delights at this local meat and deli market. These groceries will be essential in your creation of a memorable meal.
