1. Harvest Festival – Country Apple Orchard   
The 21st annual event takes place October 5th–6th, and it’s always a big hit for families as fall begins. Located just south of Sioux Falls, the Country Apple Orchard pulls out all the stops for this fun event with activities such as tractor wagon rides, pony rides, kiddie train rides, inflatable playground, children’s barn and more! Pick your own apples and pumpkins, and then indulge your taste buds with homemade apple pie, caramel apples, kettle corn, apple brats…. We could go on, but that will ruin the surprise of it.

2. Harvest Festival – Wilde Prairie Winery
In our minds, fall and wine are a perfect match! What’s better than sweater weather and savory wine that’s easy on the palate and has you craving more? Taking place on October 5th, this Harvest Festival features pumpkin painting, live music, food trucks, shopping vendors and of course, wine. Don’t forget to enjoy the vineyard while you’re there too!

3. Pumpkin Festival – Country Apple Orchard
If there’s one thing that’s a must-see on this list, it’s the South Dakota Giant Pumpkin Contest during this Pumpkin Festival on October 12th-13th. You’ll see a variety of pumpkins in all shapes and sizes, weighing over 500 pounds! While you’re there, take the kiddos to go pick out their own pumpkin to carve at home. Afterwards, enjoy food from a variety of vendors on site.

4. Harvest Festival – Strawbale Winery
Enjoy South Dakota at its finest with wine, good fall weather, and even better people. Strawbale’s annual Harvest Festival on October 12th will have you singing along with your friends and family to the great live music, with maybe a little liquid courage to help you. No need to worry about food; a variety of vendors will be on-hand, as well as shopping vendors. So sit back and relax as you take in all of the sights, sounds, and scents of fall.

5. Farmer’s Market - Falls Park
Do you love locally grown food and makers’ goods? The Falls Park Farmer’s Market is held every Saturday morning through the end of October. Grab a coffee and head to Falls Park to shop for some of the area’s finest produce along with various treats and other local favorites. Enjoy a wood-fired pizza and then make your way to the top of the observation tower to admire the breathtaking view of the park.

6. Zombie Walk - Downtown Sioux Falls
Get in the spooky spirit of Halloween with the annual Zombie Walk in Downtown Sioux Falls. On October 26th, hundreds of zombies will flood the streets in this charity event. The Zombie Walk is a family-friendly event, so take your pick of observing from the sidelines, or get creative and become a zombie as you join the downtown takeover.
