Testimonials

Concerned about holding an event in a smaller city?  Don’t worry – Sioux Falls has what it takes to host an event of larger-than-life proportions.  Attendees and guests alike will appreciate the numerous lodging and dining options in the area.  The CVB takes ownership in offering “Midwestern hospitality” and customer service.   Continuing to gain great experience with hosting a variety of events and national conventions; the Sioux Falls CVB knows how to roll out the red carpet!

On behalf of the entire Company of Atlanta's Theater of the Stars production of Irving Berlin's White Christmas, we would like to say a huge heartfelt thanks to the great citizens of Sioux Falls, SD. You graciously rolled out the red carpet to us, and we deeply appreciate the amazing hospitality that we have experienced here in your wonderful city. As we depart for Detroit, MI and throughout the tour, we will certainly remember the high spirited kick off that took place here in Sioux Falls, of the 2011 National Tour. PLUS a huge thanks to the entire staff and crew of the Pavilion for all of your hard work and dedication to the production. Without you, this would not have been possible. Until we meet again, may all your Christmas's be white! Happy Holidays!

Thank you so much for hosting the Cedar Falls, Iowa Historical Society bus trip.  It is easy to understand why you are so enthusiastic about Sioux Falls.  All in all this was a wonderful trip made possible by wonderful hosts that all went out of their way to make us feel welcome and we really felt like you wanted us in your city.  All your work made me look like a genius; I know you will see some of us again with our families or with other groups.  Sioux Falls will forever be a special place.

—Richard Congdon-Tour Director

In July, 2011, my friend Kelley and I made a road trip to Sioux Falls to buy some supplies for her business….While Kelley was taking care of her business, I asked the owner how far Falls Park was from her business.  She was more than happy to tell us how to get there and wrote the directions down for us.

Driving up to the parking lot, what a sight to see. Just Beautiful!  Couldn't wait to get out of the car to start our adventure!  The Park itself was beautiful,  but the sight and sound of the water running over the huge rocks, was just breath-taking!...

On to The Falls Overlook Cafe,  the gentlemen at the ice cream counter were very entertaining and the ice cream was delicious!  Now onto the Information Center and gift shop!  The ladies at the counter were very helpful in finding us a camera. Oh, the T-shirts they had in the store!! I have to buy one from everywhere I go!!...Next was the Viewing Tower, what a great place to see the Falls from!!...

I strongly recommend a visit to Falls Park---"A place that you won't soon forget! "

“From the beginning you had vision and determination to host a memorable conference; YOU accomplished that and more…CONGRATULATIONS!  And THANK YOU for teaching me a valuable lesson – to never second-guess what willpower and determination alone can accomplish.  The 2011 National Conference held in Sioux Falls, has registered in my “history book of meeting planning” as warm, friendly, hospitable, unique, heart-felt, enriching, intense and…one of the BEST conferences Volunteers of America has offered in long time!”

—Teresa Alfaro, CMP Meetings Manager, Volunteers of America

"Sioux Falls was the perfect location for BIO’s new event in 2010. The professionalism and quality of the staff at the Sioux Falls Convention Center, the Sheraton Sioux Falls and the Kirby Science Discovery Center in the Washington Pavilion, rivals and even exceeds “bigger” cities where you would pay more for less service. Fifteen years of experience and I had never had an event which had run so smoothly. Our small meeting never felt “small” the week we were in town, and the summit certainly was not just another date in their calendars. You sincerely know you are more than just a number when the General Manager of the convention center is helping to move boxes for your program. You become as much a part of their team as they become of yours. The Biotechnology Industry Organization certainly hopes that future events can be scheduled in such a welcoming city."

—Edward M. Shipley Senior Manager, Convention & Conferences Department Biotechnology Industry Organization

"The Summit League basketball tournament has been a resounding success in Sioux Falls.  From the very first year in 2009, the tournament has set record attendance and we continue to see a substantial commitment from everyone involved in our basketball championships.  The record level of success our championships have achieved in Sioux Falls gives our league a solid base to build in the years ahead.  We are excited the Summit League Basketball Championships will be hosted in Sioux Falls through 2014."

—Tom Douple, Summit League Commissioner

"It is my pleasure to recommend the community of Sioux Falls, SD as a site for your future sports event. Sioux Falls has hosted our Regional Tournament several times in the past and we have found the CVB, volunteers and entire community to be some of the most supportive groups we have experienced. We bring over 200 teams, 13,000 fans and team members and many College Coaches from around the country to our event. They have all responded to us that the Mid Western hospitality shown by the Sioux Falls community adds a very special ingredient to our event. We have found the hosting group to be very responsive to our needs and certainly dedicated to providing a quality experience to the participants."

—Bob Hart, US Youth Soccer, National Championships Committee

"The Sioux Falls Convention and Visitors Bureau was instrumental in bringing national level AAU Wrestling to Sioux Falls. They assisted us with planning and execution on many levels throughout our event and the coordination process. This being our first major event we couldn't have done it with out them. We look forward to a long relationship building on the success of our inaugural year."

—Wade Behm, Co-Chairman, Sioux Falls Midwest Wrestling (SFMW) Tournaments, Inc.

"From the warmth and generosity of the fans who came out to cheer us on to the beautiful morning breakfast at Falls Park, Pattie and I, along with all of the riders, were really energized by our time there."

—Kyle Petty, 2005 Chick-Fil-A Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America

"We were warmly welcomed everywhere we went. This was due to the excellent groundwork covered by the CVB staff. This says a lot about the integrity and professionalism of the CVB's staff. Association of Great Lakes Outdoor Writers (AGLOW) had a very successful convention in Sioux Falls. A large part of the success was do to the CVB and we are thankful for them and grateful for their services."

—Berdette Zastrow, 2006 AGLOW Convention Chair

"Our 2007 Lutheran Women Missionary League (LWML) convention in Sioux Falls was simply wonderful! Everyone we met, from Mayor Munson to the folks downtown and at the mall, to the CVB staff was friendly, helpful, and capable. When the CVB staff said they would "do it" they really "did it". Our 5,023 registered attendees left with a warm spot in their hearts for Sioux Falls, South Dakota. I recommend the work of the Sioux Falls CVB to any group who wants a great convention."

—Ruth Ann Johnson, LWML Contracts Administrator
